On Being Huge
Do you feel it? That sensation of knowing - deep down - just beneath the surface of all the to-ing and fro-ing. Behind the busy schedule and the to-do lists. Just around the corner from the responsibilities and commitments.
You are huge.
Every once in a while you touch it - like your tongue on a 9-volt battery. The sensation of your enormity. The overwhelming and somewhat terrifying awareness that if you stare straight at it -- at the center of your being, the core of your own vastness -- your face might actually melt off, Raiders of the Lost Ark style.
So what do you do about it? Perhaps you spend some time with it: imagining yourself at the head of an inspiring company; debating with the great minds of our time; single-handedly transforming the political landscape; painting your masterpiece; founding an orphanage in Kenya; singing on stage in front of tens of thousands of delighted fans.
And then, if you're like most of us mere mortals, you'll suddenly remember that you have immediate responsibilities. You'll return your focus to the easier-to-comprehend daily grind. You tuck the awareness back in the recesses of your mind, vowing to look at it later.
But here's the thing about being huge…. It doesn't go away. You will always be huge. Your purpose, your power and your potential are always there - waiting for you to own them, define them and step into them. Waiting for you to simply shift your myopic gaze to a more expansive truth. And with a new focus, to feed them a little, to pay attention to them and shift. To expand.
It can - but doesn't have to - happen all at once. You can take your time, you can go at your own pace, but go.
Be huge. Be you.
